The suspect accused of opening fire outside the White House Correspondents' Association dinner over the weekend is set to appear in court Monday, as investigators piece together what may have motivated the attack. While authorities have not named the suspect, a senior law enforcement official familiar with the investigation identified him to USA TODAY as 31-year-old Cole Tomas Allen, of Torrance, California.

The suspect is expected to be charged with at least two counts in connection with the Saturday night shooting. Acting U.S. Attorney General Todd Blanche on Sunday said the alleged gunman appeared to have targeted President Donald Trump and senior administration officials attending the black-tie event.
