Lithuania Hands Protest Note to Moscow Over Threats Against Embassies in Kyiv

The Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned a Russian embassy representative on May 8 to deliver a formal note of protest regarding Moscow’s warnings to evacuate diplomatic missions from Kyiv. Lithuania characterized the warning as a direct threat of force against foreign embassies and a violation of the UN Charter. While the EU has also refused to evacuate its delegation despite the Kremlin’s threats of “massive retaliatory strikes,” Lithuania confirmed its embassy in Kyiv remains operational.
