Lebanon's Aoun defends Israel talks

Lebanon’s President, Joseph Aoun, has stressed that his country makes decisions for itself and that his government is pushing forward only the interests of the Lebanese people. Aoun defended Beirut’s decision to enter into direct talks with Israel days after the Israeli military killed hundreds of people throughout the country. “These negotiations are not weakness.
They are not a retreat. They are not a concession. They are a decision stemming from the strength in our belief in our rights and care for our people and our responsibility to protect our country by all means possible,” he said in a televised address.
