The ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon is being tested. Two people have been killed by Israeli strikes in southern Lebanon in the past few hours, bringing the death toll to 22 over the weekend. Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem has reiterated that the group rejects direct negotiations with Israel, saying Lebanon should return to national unity and that talks only benefit “the enemy”.
He also reaffirmed that Hezbollah will not give up its arms. Israeli forces continue to occupy villages near the border, preventing residents from returning home, whilst Netanyahu claims the operation will stop Hezbollah attacks—a goal that has yet to be achieved.
