Kishane Thompson pulls out of Velocity Fest 19

Olympic and World Championships 100m silver medallist Kishane Thompson has withdrawn from the 200m at Sunday's Velocity Fest 19.The reason for his withdrawal was not disclosed.Velocity Fest has taken on an international flavour with over 10 countries being represented at the National Stadium starting at 4:00 pm. Outside of the Jamaicans, there are entries from Great Britain, Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Guyana, Canada, Trinidad and Tobago, St Vincent and the Grenadines, St Kitts and Nevis, Haiti, Anguilla and British Virgin Islands.While Thompson has pulled out of the men’s 200m, fans will get a chance to see the 2025 100m World champion Oblique Seville and the 2023 400 world champion Antonio Watson match stride over the distance.Also in the line-up will be Adrian Kerr, who reached the semi-finals at the World Championships, running a personal best 20.08, along with the 2024 World Indoor 60m bronze medallist Ackeem Blake.Olympic 200m bronze medallist Bryan Levell will headline the men’s 100m along with Zharnel Hughes of Great Britain, Mario Burke of Barbados, McKish Compton of St Vincent, Jelani Ellison of Flying Angels of Canada, Jamaica’s Bwouwahjgie Nkrumie, Kadrian Goldson, Roham Watson, Sachn Dennis and Emmanuel Archibald of Guyana.Meanwhile, double Olympic champion Elaine Thompson-Herah will compete in the 100m alongside the likes of Jonielle Snith, Jodean Williams, Natasha Morison, Levanya Williams, Theianna-Lee Terrelonge and schoolgirl Shevi-Anne Shim from Immaculate High.The Clayton twins, Tia and Tina will be in the 200m along with Alana Reid and sprint hurdler Ackera Nugent.Roshane Symister of Trinidad and Tobago are down for the Men’s 400m along with Jamaica’s Jeremy Bembridge, Deandre Watkins and Marcinho Rose.The women’s 400m will have Shericka Jackson, Janielle Josephs, Shian Salmon and Sada William of Barbados.
