Karen Bass wants taxpayers to pay for toothless, homeless drug addicts because, quote, “You can't succeed without teeth”

She started by asking, “How many unhoused people do you know without teeth?” She clarified this is because “meth rots your teeth.” This means she knows very well that the homeless situation is largely drug-related and not because these people lack housing. This also means that while she pretends to house these meth users, she knows this will do nothing to fix the issue. And while she tried to make herself appear compassionate by proposing this idea, it really proved how little she cares to solve the problem. The first thing she should be doing is cleaning up the street, and not dictating what dental services these people deserve. Additionally, it is a slap in the face for Angelenos who have dental issues that do not correlate with drug use. Don't they deserve free teeth? Or do people have to live their days in debauchery to be afforded such a privilege? This is not a homeless problem -- it is a drug problem -- and Karen Bass has made it clear she understands that. This is why it is both deranged and tyrannical that she has done nothing to clean up the streets. Refusing to fix the issue is not only a slap in the face to the people who desperately deserve public safety and clean streets. It is also a disservice to the homeless population. These are humans. Human have inherent value, despite many of them living at their lowest point. They deserve help -- whether they understand that or not. By turning a blind eye to their degeneracy and not arresting them for crimes and/or prioritizing treatment, the city does these people a huge disservice. People like Karen Bass don't actually care about homeless people, though, which is precisely why they pretend the problem has more to do with housing than it does with severe drug addiction and mental illness. Whether offering teeth to drug addicts on the street is a good or bad idea is up to you to decide. We can conclude, however, that Los Angeles cannot take another four years of this buffoon.
