Israeli strikes kill 8 in Lebanon, 1 in West Bank

Another Israeli airstrike on Arab Salim in the Nabatieh district killed one person and injured three, including a child. In the al-Maaliya town in the southern Tyre district, Israeli strikes killed three workers, two Syrians and one Egyptian, whose bodies were recovered by Lebanese Red Cross teams with support from the Lebanese army. Two people were killed in an Israeli airstrike on the town of Qalaouiyeh in the Bint Jbeil district. In the Tyre district, Israeli airstrikes hit the town of Srifa, injuring five people, including four paramedics from the Islamic Health Authority. Meanwhile, Hezbollah said in a statement that it targeted Israeli military vehicles and soldiers near al-Sala'a hill in the town of Qantara with rockets. It also launched another rocket strike on a gathering of Israeli military vehicles and soldiers near a school in the village of Houla. The strikes took place despite a ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon, after weeks of cross-border clashes tied to the broader U.S.-Israeli conflict with Iran. Meanwhile, a young Palestinian man was killed and four others were injured by Israeli army fire in the northern West Bank city of Nablus on Sunday, the Palestinian Ministry of Health said. It said in a statement that 26-year-old Naif Samaro was killed after being shot in the head during an Israeli raid. Meanwhile, the Palestinian Red Crescent Society said in a statement that its teams treated 40 people for tear gas inhalation, with 10 cases requiring hospitalization. Local sources and eyewitnesses told Xinhua that Israeli forces stormed Nablus, raiding several shops amid heavy traffic and crowded streets, while firing live ammunition and tear gas. Tensions have been rising across the West Bank since the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas war on Oct. 7, 2023. According to Palestinian statistics, more than 1,000 Palestinians, including over 235 children, have been killed in the West Bank since then.
