Israel illegally surrounds Global Sumud Flotilla near Greece, organisers say

The Israeli navy has reportedly begun intercepting the Global Sumud Flotilla in international waters near Greece late Wednesday as the vessels headed toward Gaza in an attempt to break the blockade on the enclave. “Communications with 11 vessels have been lost, and Israeli media claims that 7 boats have been intercepted. Governments must act now to protect the flotilla,” organisers said.

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz reportedly imposed sanctions on the flotilla earlier this week, claiming it was organised by a “Hamas terrorist organization in collaboration with additional international organizations under the guise of a humanitarian aid convoy,” according to Israeli media reports.
