Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has told Al Jazeera that there are no active negotiations with the United States, despite claims by President Donald Trump. He confirmed receiving direct and indirect messages from US envoy Steve Witkoff, but stressed that these do not constitute negotiations, adding that trust between Tehran and Washington is "at zero" due to past failed agreements and recent attacks.

Araghchi said Iran has neither responded to a reported US proposal nor submitted one of its own. On the Strait of Hormuz, he asserted that the waterway lies within Iranian and Omani territorial waters and remains open to countries not at war with Iran, while access is restricted for adversaries. He warned that Iran is fully prepared for any US ground invasion and would respond with force, pointing to recent Iranian strikes that damaged US aircraft and radar systems in the region. Araghchi insisted Iran did not start the conflict but is ready to defend itself. The full Talk to Al Jazeera sit-down with Iran's foreign minister will air on Wednesday, 1 April at 7:30pm GMT.
