An insurance claims recovery officer was found suffering from a gunshot wound at his home in Mona, St Andrew, on Wednesday morning.The 48-year-old man was reportedly found by his wife, who works for a government ministry.Police said the now-injured man was diagnosed with Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) in September 2025, and has since been experiencing depression and anxiety attacks.Reports indicated that around 4:30 am, he complained to his wife of stomach pain and left the house to exercise at the University of the West Indies (UWI) campus.He returned home around 5:30 am and went upstairs to his room.

He was covered in blood, and there was a hole in a pillow on top of him.Police said neighbours assisted the injured man to hospital, where he is currently being treated.A black Glock 19 pistol with a magazine containing sixteen 9mm cartridges was seized by the police.
