‘Hug a polar bear’ to ‘sinister’: UK Greens accused of moving beyond environmental politics

Conservative political advisor Claire Pearsall has commented on the UK Green Party’s recent policy positions following gains in several election contests and argued the party has shifted beyond its traditional environmental focus. “They did pick up a number of seats, they have got a ground swell of support in some areas, it won't surprise you, in areas where there is a large ethnic minority population,” Ms Pearsall told Sky News host James Morrow.
“They’ve moved away from this sort of hug a polar bear model of Green to something which is actually quite sinister. “I don't like their open borders policy. I don't like what they’re suggesting about having an amnesty on illegal street drugs. I think that these are the most ridiculous things. “Also removing wealth from people, I mean, this is communism at its absolute finest, but I think they are now open to the same kind of scrutiny as the other parties.”
