Hotel fire in Bulgarian seaside resort leaves 2 dead

Two technicians have died following a fire at a hotel in the Bulgarian Black Sea resort of Sunny Beach, the Bulgarian Interior Ministry said on Friday, reported Xinhua. The fire broke out at around 5.30 p.m. local time (1530 GMT) on Thursday in a service room where four employees of an external contractor were repairing air conditioning system, the ministry said in a press release. Three of them managed to escape through a balcony door, but the fourth was unable to do so and died. He has been identified as a 51-year-old man, the ministry said. In addition, a 64-year-old Ukrainian citizen who worked as a maintenance employee at the hotel and was near the burning rooms, felt unwell on Thursday evening. He was taken to a hospital and died. The fire was later extinguished by firefighters from the Regional Fire Safety and Civil Protection Service. An investigation is still underway.
