The game industry remains in a troubled state, and games journalism is under similar pressure, with high-profile shutdowns, layoffs and sales. Polygon co-founder Chris Plante (now writing as Post Games) decided to review to state of affairs and assemble an incomplete catalogue of games media in 2026 Last Thursday, I spoke at NYU Game Center about the future of games journalism and how 50 years of history can tell us which ongoing trends should terrify us and which should give us hope.
