Extremely high radiation detected inside Fukushima reactor

Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) has reported “extremely high” radiation levels inside the No. 2 reactor at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant. The measurement, taken on 16 April using a fibrescope, reached around 4.7 sieverts per hour. This is the first time since the 2011 meltdown that radiation has been directly measured inside one of the damaged reactors.
TEPCO said the findings confirm the presence of nuclear debris and will help plan its eventual removal.
