Epstein accusations fly as Trump's Treasury chief ambushes senator at hearing

A Senate hearing on Wednesday grew heated as President Donald Trump's Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent clashed with Sen. Ron Wyden — and repeatedly said his son had ties to accused child trafficker Jeffrey Epstein.According to The Daily Beast, the controversy began when Wyden, who has been leading Epstein investigations in the Senate, accused the Treasury Department under Bessent of a cover-up of Epstein's financial records.“I had hoped to keep this in terms of the economy,” Bessent replied, adding, “Senator Wyden has mendaciously slandered the Treasury building in an attempt to cover up his son having an investment meeting with Jeffrey Epstein to ask for funding.”Wyden shot back, Nobody is interested in the ramblings of a capo in the most corrupt regime in American history.
