A drunk passenger caused a disturbance on a flight from Berlin to Spain's Alicante, forcing the aircraft to make an unscheduled stop at Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden Airport, police said on Thursday, reported dpa. The 43-year-old man behaved aggressively after take-off and is said to have harassed fellow passengers in an unacceptable manner, police said in a statement.

He is also said to have vomited on the plane. The pilot therefore decided to make an unscheduled landing to have the passenger removed from the aircraft. The man was taken into custody by police waiting on the tarmac. Luggage then had to be unloaded to access the troublemakers bags, a police spokesman said. The Ryanair flight was subsequently able to continue its journey to its original destination in Spain. The man faces charges of breaching the Aviation Security Act during the incident, which happened on Wednesday. It is not known whether he subsequently travelled home or booked a new flight to his holiday destination. It remained unclear what costs the airline incurred as a result of the detour and whether the man is liable for them.
