DGFT Removes Per-Consignment Cap Value Cap For Courier Exports New Delhi, Mar 30 (KNN) The government has removed the per-consignment value limit for exports through courier services, in a move aimed at facilitating trade and improving ease of doing business. Earlier, courier exports were capped at Rs 10 lakh per consignment. The amendment removes this limit entirely, allowing shipments of any value through registered courier services, subject to applicable regulations under the Customs Act, 1962 and ITC (HS) export policy.
The new provision will come into effect from April 1, 2026, after which the existing value cap will stand withdrawn. The move is expected to benefit exporters, particularly micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), e-commerce firms and small businesses, by providing greater flexibility in shipment sizes. It is also likely to ease logistics, streamline export procedures and support higher export volumes through courier channels. The Federation of Indian Micro and Small Medium Enterprises (FISME), the national body of MSMEs, has acknowledged the move, as it had previously raised concerns regarding this in its Budget recommendations. The amendment was notified under Notification No. 67/2025-26 dated March 27, 2026, by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT). The revision has been made to Para 9.05 of the Foreign Trade Policy 2023, which governs exports through courier services and post offices. (KNN Bureau)
