‘Declaration of war’: Expert warns Strait of Hormuz blockade could escalate tensions

Political analyst Joe Siracusa has weighed in on US President Donald Trump’s reported plan to blockade the Strait of Hormuz in an attempt to strip Iran of its “strategic leverage” in ongoing negotiations. “It is a legal process, it is also a declaration of war,” Mr Siracusa told Sky News Australia. “It is going to make sure nothing goes in or out of Iranian ports, and the other thing they are going to make sure about is that any ship that has paid the two million dollars to go through the strait … doesn't get through.
