US President Donald Trump and his top aides say he can claim to have achieved his main objectives in the war with Iran. Trump says he has met his goal of addressing Iran’s nuclear program. However, he has also left open the possibility of escalating military action, and US forces continue to be deployed to the region. Meanwhile, Pakistan and China have put forward a proposal to help end the war and are calling for talks to begin as soon as possible.
