David Beckham's Hollywood Walk of Fame honour leaves film fans bewildered as they fume over 'absurd' inclusion

David Beckham's upcoming addition to the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame has left many confused as to why the former football legend has received a place on the showbiz landmark.It was confirmed this week that the 51-year-old's name will be added to the Los Angeles sight with a ceremony set to take place on June 12.Mr Beckham will join a plethora of A-list actors, whose names had been added to the sight that started in 1960.While there are some sporting legends already featured, news of Mr Beckham's inclusion has left some furious, with the move labelled absurd.It is understood that to receive a star, said celebrity must be nominated in categories which cover film, television, theatre and radio.MailOnline reports that the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce states a person must haver achieved Professional achievement, longevity in the category of five years or more, contributions to the community and the guarantee that the celebrity will attend the dedication ceremony if selected.It didn't take long for reactions to flood social media, with one person writing on X: I thought that was for actors.A second asked: Why? He is not an actor, director, producer or singer.
