Colombia election heads to run-off amid fraud claims and political violence
Colombia's presidential election has advanced to a run-off after a tightly contested first round overshadowed by allegations of irregularities and escalating political violence. Far-right candidate Abelardo de la Espriella, who calls himself "The Tiger," narrowly edged out left-wing senator Ivan Cepeda, with the decisive vote scheduled for 21 June. Both candidates have raised concerns over the results, with Cepeda citing a discrepancy in the electoral roll affecting around 885,000 people, whilst President Gustavo Petro refused to acknowledge the pre-count pending an audit. The runoff will be fought over Colombia's security strategy and peace negotiations with armed groups. Al Jazeera's Teresa Bo reports from Bogota, Colombia.
