Watch Louder with Crowder every weekday at 11:00 AM Eastern, only on Rumble Premium! The problem with the left is that they cannot handle the truth. This is why it enrages them when people uncover corruption. Investigative journalism is also infuriating to leftists because more often than not, it exposes how incompetent they truly are. This is especially true when it exposes how state and local officials are turning a blind eye to rampant fraud.

So, rather than stand behind the truth, leftist lawmakers in California have decided a better thing to do is to criminalize the press, so long as they claim it is to protect immigrants.California is trying to pass a bill that would criminalize investigative journalism with misdemeanors, 10,000 fines, imprisonment, and content takedown. The proposed bill is titled AB 2624 and was made after I exposed mass fraud by immigrant groups in America.Under AB 2624, pic.twitter.com/4p0SjO7hOZ— Nick shirley (@nickshirleyy) April 13, 2026 According to Assemblymember Carl DeMaio: Assemblymember Carl DeMaio is slamming state Democrats for voting to advance a controversial new law (AB 2624) to silence citizen journalists and shield taxpayer-funded organizations from public scrutiny.DeMaio has gone as far as dubbing AB 2624 the “Stop Nick Shirley Act” for the chilling effect it will have on free speech.AB 2624 claims to be about protecting immigrant organizations from “threats of violence,” when in fact the legislation would apply to any left-wing group that claims to provide any services to legal or illegal immigrants.According to DeMaio, the famous “Learing Center” would be lawful in the State of California if this legislation passes, so long as they claim to provide services to immigrants. It is unclear why the left pretends that immigrants, legal or not, can do no harm, but it is pretty evident that a lot of harm has been caused, and the ones suffering the most are the American taxpayers. During a recent Assembly committee hearing, DeMaio directly confronted the bill’s author, Mia Bonta, over language that would allow individuals affiliated with certain organizations to demand the removal of video recordings — even if taken in public — and even impose costly financial penalties against those who publish the videos online.DeMaio warned the bill would be used to block investigative reporting and intimidate journalists, watchdog groups and members of the public documenting wrongdoing. In other words, fraudsters would become the victims, and the journalist exposing the fraud could be held accountable for trying to uncover the truth. While it is cute that the left thinks they have the power to override the freedom of the press, there is this little thing called the Constitution that might prove otherwise. And while people like Bonta likely think that she was smart by phrasing this as “protection” of immigrants, it turns out the state has no right to protect anyone at the expense of constitutional rights. Weird how things like that play out in America. - YouTube www.youtube.com
