Opposition leader Angus Taylor has highlighted the need to develop the immigration system based on core Australian values as he unveiled the Coalition’s approach to tackle the issue. “What’s been missing in the immigration debate is the importance of putting Australian values first,” Mr Taylor said. “It must discriminate based on our values. “If people don’t believe in our democracy, in our rule of law, in our legal system, in the basic freedoms of speech and religion that we believe in in this country, then they shouldn’t come to the country.”
