Activists attempt to take dogs from Wisconsin facility

About 1,000 animal welfare activists tried to gain entry again this month to Ridglan Farms, a beagle breeding and research facility in Wisconsin, before they were turned back by police who fired rubber bullets and pepper spray. Activists accuse the facility of animal cruelty, which Ridglan Farms denies. Ridglan accuses activists of "spreading false and highly misleading claims about our research and our deep commitment to animal welfare," their statement says.
