Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche suggested on Tuesday that if he were ousted from his role in the Department of Justice (DOJ) – much like his predecessor, Pam Bondi, was last week – his only response would be to communicate his love for his boss, President Donald Trump.Blanche, who was named acting attorney general in the wake of Bondi’s firing, was asked during a press conference whether he was interested in serving as the “full-time” attorney general.“As to whether or not I want this job, I did not ask for this job,” Blanche said.

“I love working for President Trump, it's the greatest honor of a lifetime, and if President Trump chooses to keep me as acting, that's an honor.”Blanche then went on to lay out several hypothetical scenarios as to how he might react whether promoted, asked to resume his role as deputy attorney general, or asked to leave the agency entirely.“If he chooses to nominate me, that's an honor; if he chooses to nominate somebody else and I go back to being the [deputy attorney general], that's an honor,” he said. “If he chooses to nominate somebody else and asks me to go do something else, I will say 'thank you very much, I love you sir.'”Bondi was ousted as attorney general last week over what reports have suggested was Trump’s frustration with her inability to secure criminal convictions of his perceived enemies, as well as her handling of the DOJ’s publication of files on Jeffrey Epstein. Bondi’s firing also came just weeks after Trump removed Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem from her position leading the agency, the first high-profile cabinet-level shake-up of Trump’s second term.Over the weekend, White House insiders told Reuters that Trump is actively considering a “broader cabinet shake-up,” with his sights reportedly set on National Intelligence Director Tulsi Gabbard and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick.Acting AG @DAGToddBlanche on how he'd react if ousted from his position by Trump:I will say 'thank you very much, I love you sir.'” pic.twitter.com/eDy8VfQ0a9— Alexander Willis (@ReporterWillis) April 7, 2026
